Eleven

We celebrated our 11th anniversary this weekend. Even though it's a year longer, 11 years doesn't quite have the same excitement as 10 years. 10 years was exciting! Regardless, we are moving in the right direction so that's all that matters:)

John and I went to Knoxville for a wedding this weekend. One of my girls, Lyndsey, that was in my small group (when I volunteered with the youth group at church) got married.....on our anniversary.
I think going to a wedding on/near your anniversary is kind of romantic and a great reminder of that special day you stood before God and all your friends and family and made serious vows to the one person (on earth) that you love the most. With the busyness and craziness of everyday life, you aren't often in that moment. So it's nice when you are, and other than watching your wedding video on a pretty regular basis, going to a wedding can do it for you.....especially on your anniversary. October is such a fantastic month to get married in, and a lot of our friends and family think so, too, because there are a lot of us with similar anniversary dates.

We had the privilege of attending the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. It was Great Gatsby themed, and we were the least dressed in themed people there!! They went all out with the details for the entire dinner....until the background music changed from 20s and mellow music to songs like "Wobble" and "Teach Me How to Dougie". I don't think I've been to a rehearsal dinner this fun. Lyndsey is marrying in to a fun-loving, huge family. One of the cutest things I saw? Her future in-laws slow dancing to "Teach Me How to Dougie". Seriously cute stuff - it's like they were just so happy and in love, and wanted to be out there dancing, too, even though the song was not your usual slow dance song:)

This is as "Great Gatsby" as we could get:)

On Saturday, we woke up at 11:30 am. We could not remember the last time we slept that late and didn't think our bodies were capable of it. It was amazing. We went to a couple of stores looking for John a plain, white Oxford with button down collars because his old one had had it. Who knew this would be an impossible task? It was. But we did get a yummy lunch suggestion from one of the places we looked.

The wedding was at IJAMS nature center. It was a beautiful setting for a wedding! And it was a little warm at first, but they definitely lucked out on the weather. The wedding was so sweet and Christ-centered. John said he even almost teared up:) I'm so glad we were able to be there to witness their special day.

The reception was so "them". Outdoorsy, vintage, swing dancing, etc. They had a blast which I think is always so fun to watch at a reception. It's the best day of your life - you better be having fun.

They had a cute photo booth and this cute little sitting area outside of the reception tent. Another one of our girls that also used to be in the youth group told John and I to take some pictures in this chair because it was a cute spot. John was being so silly, and this is the only picture of us that we weren't making not cute faces, and I love it. I told John "11 years later and we're still laughing. That's good, right?" :)

We left the reception a little early to go eat dinner for our anniversary. We ate at Cru and it was so good, I wanted to lick my plate!! We passed on dessert knowing we had a Krispy Kreme nearby. And the hot sign was on, so we made a good choice! Hot Krispy Kremes are so stinkin' good!

We had a great anniversary weekend, but we were so glad to get home and see our sweet monkeys!

Happy 11th Anniversary, John!!! I still love you 11 years later:) And I'm so glad that you are my "person". I look forward to getting to 12 years with you!
