What Meyers Wore Wednesday

We were supposed to go to the zoo today with MOPS friends this morning. I was excited to go because we haven't been to the zoo since the spring.

Well....Meyers decided she didn't feel like sleeping at about 1:00 this morning. John and I each tried rocking her for a bit, but that didn't help. When we would put her in the bed, she cried and cried. Around 3:00 am or so, I decided she was fine....no fever, hadn't pooped, etc., and I decided to go back to bed and turn the monitor off. I hate doing that....I feel like I'm ignoring my child! I think she just wanted to cuddle with us. I am all about getting my cuddle time with Meyers especially before this new baby gets here, but not at 3:00 am!

So this morning, we slept in a little, stayed in our pajamas, played, sat on the potty some, and cuddled on the couch.

Meyers is wearing her monkey Gap pajama shirt and a target diaper:) John actually bought these pjs for her a couple of weeks ago because her others were getting too small. We love Gap pjs....they are so soft and cute.

So Long, Farewell.........

......to the binky.

That's what we call pacifiers around our house.

We have been officially binky free for 10 days.

If I had known it was going to be this easy, I "might" have done it sooner. I know some parents love the binky, some parents would rather their kids not have it, some parents would do the happy dance if their child would actually take a binky.

We were and still are binky fans. I have never had a problem with the binky. It has always been great for us. It soothed and comforted Meyers when she was upset. She has loved it since about 3 weeks old when I introduced the Avent kind. I was trying to get her to take the Soothies from the hospital. A more seasoned mom than me suggested I try a different brand. Uh, duh.....why didn't I think of that??? Ever since then, Meyers has been in LOVE with her binky.

For about 6 months (maybe longer), we started letting her have her binky only in bed and in the car. I'm pretty sure that is why she loves going somewhere in the car.....because she got to have her binky.

About two weeks ago, we told her that she could only have it in her bed. No more car. That met a tiny bit of resistance, but she became okay with that.

Two Fridays ago, I went to get the last binky out of her bed. She had been stuffy for a few days. The binky looked kind of gross (you know how they get), and it smelled funny, too. I know, gross! So I told her right then that the binky was old and gross and that we had to throw it in the garbage.

It took her a little bit longer to go to sleep for her nap that day. And a little bit longer to go to sleep for the next couple of nights. But it was nothing a little more rocking in the rocking chair couldn't fix. She has asked for it a few times, and I tell her it's in the garbage. Then she'll say " it was old." So she gets it. Who wants a nasty binky in their mouth?? Luckily not Meyers.

I thought we might have the binky until maybe kindergarten. Not because I think that's okay, but because she loved it so much. I was really okay with her still having in the bed. I was thinking we might start "the long process" of taking it away after 2.5. But it happened sooner, and she has transitioned great.....just like she has for all the other things like that. Why is it me that makes these things such big deals?

If only potty training could be this easy.......

So here is a tribute to the binky:) I am so going to miss that binky in her mouth. It's just one more sign that she is growing up and not my baby anymore (even though she will always be my "baby").

17 Weeks

17 weeks now

17 weeks with Meyers

How Far Along: 17 weeks

Size of baby: size of a turnip , 5 inches long and weighs 5 oz.

Maternity Clothes: I am in this blah state of my maternity clothes being too big and my regular clothes (pants, shorts) haven't fit in a while now! It kind of got me in a bad mood this week because I feel like I have nothing to wear. I snapped out of it pretty quickly when I realized how petty I sounded. Strange to say, but I'm looking forward to getting bigger (and it getting cooler...my maternity clothes that I already have are fall and winter) so that my clothes fit, and I have something to wear.

Gender: not finding out!!!

Movement: I may have felt something this week. I'm still not sure.

Sleep: I am sleeping okay besides getting up to use the restroom at least once.

What I Miss: having something cute to wear that fits!

Cravings: My new sour candy of choice.....chewy sweet tarts. I am sure my dentist is going to love me after this pregnancy! Also I got the yummiest hummus this week at Super Target. I love hummus, but it is hard to find some at the store that is really good. I always pick the wrong brand or flavor and don't love it. I loved this so much that I saved the paper wrapper that was over the plastic carton so that I would not forget the brand. I need to look for it at Sam's or Costco because I polished this small carton off in 3 days!!!

Symptoms: I am still having CRAZY dreams!!

Best Moment This Week: Somehow there are still people that we haven't told.....I told one girl at bible study yesterday that I was pregnant. I thought she knew, but we hadn't talked in a while. It's always fun telling people!

What Meyers Wore Wednesday

Meyers went to her preschool orientation today. We talked for two days about how she was going to meet her teachers and new friends. It's so cute that she can say her two teachers' names. I got to speak with both of the teachers and feel great about Meyers being in their care one day a week this next year. Meyers walked right in and started playing. I'm thinking when I drop her off for real that she is going to be just fine. I sure hope so. My heart will break if she cries!!

On another note, I was the ONLY mom with a camera!! I kind of felt crazy, but I'm glad I captured this day!

Preschool Orientation Day 2011

Meyers is wearing her daddy's favorite Shrimp and Grits turtles dress. He loves her in this! We wore a dress to orientation since we won't be wearing long dresses to school. She gets "stuck" in them and it's a rule. And you know I'm a rule follower!!

She was pretty excited about the kitchen area and went straight to it when we walked in.

There was also a plethora of babies and bottles to play with.

She loved sitting at the table and chairs and pretending to eat.

She LOVED the oven in the little kitchen.

I think we have got to get her a play kitchen for Christmas!!

Again....at the table. She loved it being her size!

Taking a little rest.....

She also thought she needed to do a little vacuuming. Again....another thing she needs for Christmas. She loves the vacuum.

She took a minute to rock the baby in the rocking chair. That was after she took the baby's clothes off!

She finally made it over to the puzzle table.

She made a quick phone call to daddy.

And then proceeded to leave her germs on the toy food for the boys and girls that came later.

See?? No matter how many times you say "no mouth", they want to put everything in their mouth. In her defense, the food looked extremely real:)

She discovered the train table and thought that was pretty neat!

And then she was over ALL the toys in the room and wanted to play with the wipes in my diaper bag!!

We left preschool and our friends came over to play and eat lunch for a little bit. We had a great morning and afternoon and then BOTH took good naps!!

Pregnancy Brain or Into Everything Toddler.......

I'll let you decide:)

We went to a furniture store the other night to look for Meyers a new dresser. Since we are not finding out what the baby is, the new baby will get all of Meyer's furniture and bedding (it's all gender neutral), and Meyers is getting new big girl furniture. We are keeping her in a crib for now, but that's another story for another time.

Anyway, we went to look and ended up buying because they were doing a $250 store gift card giveaway, as well as 20% off your price for donating $20 to the food bank. I don't know if the sales guy rigged it or what, but I won the gift card. The catch with the gift card and 20% off was that they had to be used that evening.

So it was a huge blessing that we happened to go that night because we got her furniture for a good bit cheaper.

Here is where the pregnancy brain/into everything toddler comes in. The next morning, I go to put something in my wallet, and I can't find it anywhere. I kind of panic. Other than having my wallet stolen, I've never not known where my wallet was. John helped me remember that Meyers was playing with it on the bed at the furniture store. I've gotten into the bad habit of letting her play with my wallet. It entertains her for some reason. We will not be doing that anymore.

I called the store, and the girl said that no one had turned anything in. I told her exactly where we were the night before and after a few minutes on hold, she told me she found it. Whew! I was so relieved! Apparently, it was right where Meyers left it, and no one had even seen it. Thank goodness!!

So I think it's a little bit of both.....pregnancy brain and an into everything toddler:)

These are pictures of Meyers playing around in the store's car strollers. What a great idea! Definitely kept her entertained. And they also had a play gym that was pretty neat, too!

16 Weeks

16 weeks now
(Do you think John could have told me my hair was sticking up when he took this picture???)

16 weeks with Meyers
(Okay, I was thinking it was the angle of the camera, but maybe I was bigger with Meyers at this point. I think it's a little of both. I carry around 30 pounds a lot everyday, and she is kind of dead weight. She doesn't help much when I carry her:) Clearly I was not doing that when I was pregnant with her! Maybe that is the difference.)

(On another note about the pictures with Meyers, I was not blogging then. I was thinking these pictures were only for me. I was looking ahead at some of them, and they are rough! It must mean I have no shame to put them on the internet now. I'm serious. You'll see.)

How Far Along: 16 weeks

Size of baby: size of an avocado, 4.5 inches long and weighs 3.5 oz.

Maternity Clothes: I'm still rocking the stretchy skirts and maternity fitted tops.

Gender: not finding out!!!

Movement: maybe......I didn't feel anything with Meyers until I felt a definite jab while I was grading papers at my desk at 23 weeks. I will NEVER forget that first kick. I never really knew if I felt flutters with her. Since I know what things feel like now, I "may" have felt a flutter. Maybe not.

Sleep: I am sleeping okay besides getting up to use the restroom at least once.

What I Miss: wearing my cute summer clothes and eating cold sandwiches. I know that not every pregnant woman adheres to the "not eating cold lunchmeat" thing, but I'm a rule follower, so I do. I can not wait to eat a Savory Club Crossiant from Holiday Ham. I want one as soon as I get out of recovery:)

Cravings: Sour candy. I also bought dill pickle pringles today. They are really good! Still drinking lots of water. Maybe the water will cancel out the sour candy I can't stay away from.

Symptoms: Still having heartburn some. I had it with Meyers some, but I don't remember it being this early. And I am still having CRAZY dreams!!

Best Moment This Week: Hearing the heartbeat at my doctor's appointment this week. It took what felt like hours before she found it. I was sort of panicking, but then she did and it was awesome! Second best moment of the week: getting done with three weeks of 13 trunk shows and sending my trunk off to Fedex. I love being able to get Meyers tons of clothes and other things that it provides for this stay-at-home-mommy, but I am always ready to be done until the next season!!

What Meyers Wore Wednesday

Today was the first day of MOPS. So that meant that this morning was kind of busy. I had to be there early with food in tow. I didn't get to get any pictures of Meyers. She actually wore a cute outfit, not just this Tar-jay t-shirt:) But this is what she changed into after we got home and ate lunch.

I grabbed these pictures after she woke up from her nap. She was a little grumpy:)

That's all for now. I need to get back to putting in a zillion Shrimp and Grits Kids order. My eyeballs are starting to cross.....

Meyers "Reading" Noah's Ark

I've posted before about how much Meyers loves Noah's Ark. This is the book that we read about 10 times a day.

It's really colorful and the pictures are cute. The pages are kind of reflective and sparkly. Besides her Karen Katz "Lift the Flap" books and her daddy books that I've made for her, I would say this is her favorite book. The funny thing about this book is that I bought it a few days before I had her. I worked at a Christian school, and the church that it was in had an amazing bookstore. The last day I worked, I went to the store on one of my breaks and bought a ton of books. It was like I all of the sudden felt that I needed to have plenty of books in our house for me to bring this baby home.

I know. I'm crazy. Maybe it was some sort of nesting.

So we read through this book all the time, but I don't really read the book to her; I just tell her what happens as we go through the pages. It was slightly wordy for a 1 year old, but she would probably be okay with it now. But this is how we've done it for a while now. So here's Meyers telling me the story of Noah's Ark. I am so glad I finally got this on video!

Oh, and please excuse my voice and my messy house. John was home with her today:)

15 Weeks

15 weeks now

** This black shirt and gray and white stretchy skirt are becoming my Friday uniform!!! Have you noticed?? It's the only black maternity shirt I have, so I have to wear it on picture day:)

**I think I was at the beach for fall break when I was 15 weeks with Meyers, so I don't have that picture to compare.

How Far Along: 15 weeks

Size of baby: size of an apple , 4 inches long and weighs 2.5 oz.

Maternity Clothes: I'm still rocking the stretchy skirts and maternity fitted tops. I wore maternity jeans to the movies this week because I didn't want to freeze. I forgot how much I LOVE this one pair of Gap maternity jeans. Looking forward to wearing them more because they make me feel cute. That's saying a lot when you are packing on extra pounds!

Gender: not finding out!!! I have to say people's reactions are starting to get on my nerves a little when we tell them we are not finding out. People act like it's the CRAZIEST thing they've ever heard. It may just be the hormones, but it's kind of bugging me:)

Movement: not yet....can't wait for it!

Sleep: I am sleeping okay besides getting up to use the restroom at least once. I have woken up a few times around 4:00 am or so and don't fall back to sleep for probably an hour. That's kind of annoying!

Cravings: No Taco Bell this week! I am still wanting
sour candy. I had sour punch straws at the movies this week! So yummy! I also discovered Chick-fil-a's bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. I've always gotten chicken minis for breakfast, but I was tired of chicken, so I got the biscuit. It blows McDonald's bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit out of the water!!!! It is so fresh and the bacon is actually crisp, not rubbery in a weird circle like at McDonald's. But it might be dangerous that I've discovered this:) I've also been drinking around 50 0z of water with lemon a day(thanks to my new cup from my friend, Shelby). I have to have my water with me at all times. Maybe it's the heat???

Symptoms: I have been having heartburn this week. I had it with Meyers some, but I don't remember it being this early. And I am still having CRAZY dreams!!

Best Moment This Week: I found out today that I am immune to Fifths Disease/Parvo. Meyers will be going to preschool one day this year, as well as childcare at MOPS and my bible study. Fifths is always going around and can be dangerous for pregnant women. Apparently, I have already been exposed and I am immune. So even if she gets it while I'm pregnant, I won't need to worry. I also got the results back from our 12 week screening ultrasound. They were good, too!

What Meyers Wore Wednesday

This morning, I had to drop off some Shrimp and Grits order forms to one of my hostesses. After that, we went to Pottery Barn Outlet since we were out that way to look for some curtains for Meyers's new girly room on the rare chance that they had my panels I've been looking for.

They were not open yet, so I made Meyers stand out front and pose for me.

Today she wore one of my favorite Shrimp and Grits bubbles. We have worn this for two summers now. I put it on her all the time.....because it's cute and because I look for any excuse to put her cute red sandals on her!

We did find the curtains I've been looking for. They only had two left!!!! It was fate!

We had to walk around while I waited for John to call me back and give me the go-ahead. He was with his boss, so he texted back "Get them!" We have both been stalking these curtains for a while now.

They were priced $29.99 each, which is still a huge savings from the catalog, but they rang up $19.99 each!!!!! I was so pumped! I would have paid $120 plus tax for both in the catalog and shipping, too. I got both for $43.68!

After that we went to a baby store. I found nothing, but Meyers had fun playing on this toddler bed frame.

Then we went to Premier Fabric. I needed fabric to make Meyers's preschool bag. I found some cute prints to make it, and Meyers didn't want to get out of this chair to leave! Our morning ended with Chick fil a, so I would say we had a fun, successful morning!
