A Quick Visit

Jessica came in town this past weekend to meet Emery. No, this isn't a picture from this weekend. It's a picture from her wedding......obviously. I took NO pictures while she was here! I was too sleep deprived and sinus-infected. I don't think that's a word......

Anyway, bless her heart. After asking Bert to book her a late flight, she realized that he booked the absolute last flight. That last flight - leaving out at 10:30 pm Friday (atlanta time) - was delayed. I think she got to my house between 12:30 am and 1:00 am Saturday morning. We were both so tired: her from working all day and traveling so late and me from having a newborn and an almost 3 year old that couldn't get to sleep that night. We hugged hello and we were both in our beds within 3 minutes of her getting here. Emery was up about an hour or so later, and it was then that I woke up with a sore throat, watery eyes, and constant sneezing. I always get this way when I am run down, and I am so run down right now. I would hurt somebody for four STRAIGHT hours of sleep right now. Four - that's all I'm asking for. Five would be nice, but I'll take four......

Anyway, we were all up around 7:30 Saturday morning. Jessica said she was laughing so hard at Meyers because she could hear her saying "B. Come in here. Bef, where are you?" from her room. She hears John and my mom call me "B" and everyone else call me Beth, so she thinks that's real funny to call me that. It actually is real funny. I need to get that recorded.

We got dressed, and Jessica and I took the girls to the fabric store. I needed a Sprite; a fountain Sprite always makes me throat feel somewhat better when it hurts, so we pulled through Chick-fil-a. Emery got crazy-town in the line, so we pulled into the parking lot to feed her after we got our drinks. Jessica actually fed her - for the 2nd time that day. Bless her sweet self!

I burped her because Jessica says she's not a good baby burper:) She took these pictures - the only ones to document our weekend - while I burped Emery.

Meyers's fake cheesy smile:)

After Emery was fed, we went to the fabric store. Jessica and I both sew, so going in the fabric store is like a kid going to a candy store. So fun! I bought fabric to make Meyers' birthday outfit, and Jessica bought fabric to make each of her girls' three outfits. We had fun picking out her material. We were there for a while. Meyers was so good, and Emery got settled when I put her in my sling. Meyers even told me she needed to potty (#1) while we were there. I took her while Jessica finished up and paid. Poor thing couldn't go. She was constipated. I was proud of her for telling me, even though she couldn't go. Jessica came in and helped Meyers while I paid for my fabric. Again.....bless her sweet self. I've gotten out with both girls, but it was so nice having Jessica with me to help.

When we left, we met John for lunch. We had a yummy lunch of Memphis Pizza Cafe. We had fun visiting and catching up. Jessica told the funniest story I've heard in a long time about Elizabeth walking in on her daddy dressing (Jessica -hope you don't mind I said that!). It was so funny that I was nearly crying! It still makes me laugh just thinking about it! We left and came home. I was starting to feel really bad. Jessica could tell how bad I felt, and she knew I was exhausted. She told me and John to get Meyers down and go take a nap. I felt so bad! Jessica was only at my house for about 15 hours and part of that time was at night when we were all sleeping. I wanted to visit with her, but I totally took her up on her offer. That's how bad I felt. If I was just sleepy, I could have made it. But I felt awful! The stars aligned and Meyers actually went to sleep, and John and I slept for 2 hours while Jessica watched Emery.

Here's a picture she took of Emery while we were all sleeping. I think it looks NOTHING like her! So strange! She looks precious, but it doesn't look like any other picture I've taken of her. I could have cried over my appreciation of Jessica letting us nap! I know she wanted to spend time with Emery, and she wanted to help, but I still hate that we didn't have more time to visit. Her mom came and picked her up about 20 minutes after we woke up. She spent the night with her and flew out the next morning. I know she was exhausted!

I am so thankful for my sweet friends. Friends that have come to visit us and Emery, friends that have brought us food and gifts, friends that have come over to visit and fed Emery while they were here or helped Meyers on the potty just to give me a tiny break, friends that have not written me off because I haven't been able to answer the phone because they always call when it's crazy-town over here. I feel very blessed by my sweet friends!

Check Up

Emery had her one month check up today. For real. Not like last week when I thought she had her appointment.

I need to change her weight on her one month post because I was way off!
-weight: 9 lbs, 14 oz - 75%
- length: 21.5 in - a little above 50%
- head: 15 in - 75%

I'll have to go back and look at Meyers's stats to compare.

After talking to Dr. Catherine about Emery's fussiness (which I think is way better, but still frequent), she wants to change her formula. I had just kind of chalked up her fussiness as her being a little "high maintenance". Like I said, it's way better, so I thought this is just something we have to get through. Dr. Catherine looked at me like I was crazy and said that it was not normal. I "heart" Dr. Catherine - so glad she's our doctor! We were already using Enfamil Gentlease, which is not cheap. Now she wants us on Enfamil Nutramigen. It is about $8 MORE a can for a few ounces less than the gentlease! Geez! This little girl is going to make us go broke:) I'm kidding! If it will help her feel better and make things a little easier around here, then it's totally worth it! I just hope it does work because I really don't want to switch her formula again anytime soon. I don't think that's good for babies, either.

While we were there, I had Dr. Catherine check Meyers out, too. She's been snotty and coughing for a week. Everything is fine with her, so she is definitely going to school tomorrow. We are both excited about that:) She LOVES school, and that is my one day a week to completely focus on Emery.

So $50 in copays later, we left and went to Chick-fil-a. We've been through the drive-thru some in the last few days - for a drink or possibly for a milkshake:) We tell Meyers they are cleaning the playground, and we can't go in. Is that bad? It works. I had been telling her I would let her play on the playground soon, so we headed there.
It was early, so there was no one there, which was awesome!

Here are my sweet girls at the doctor. Taking them both by myself was not that bad!

One Month

Emery - you are one month old today! It's gone so fast and so slow at the same time! It's funny how time does that.

You weigh a little over 8 pounds according to our scale. We go to the doctor tomorrow for your check-up, so I'll see how much they say you weigh.

You are still in newborn diapers, but you are ready for size ones. We will move you up as soon as we run out of newborns here in the next few days.

Your belly button cord fell off at 8 days.

You are wearing all newborn size clothing except for gowns and those are 0-3 months.

You eat 4 ounces of formula every three hours during the day, and we let you stretch it at night. Sometimes you will go 4-4.5 hours without a bottle at night, and sometimes you can only go 3 hours between feedings at night.

You are a little bit of a "spitter-upper". Meyers was, too. But you are a "happy spitter" just like her; it doesn't seem to bother you.

You love to be swaddled! I am so glad we started that because it has helped you sleep (Your sister didn't love it, so we figured you wouldn't either. We were wrong). You have been sleeping in the pack n play in our room for about a week and a half now. Before that, you were only sleeping at night if we were holding you. I think we will move you to your room soon.

Your screaming fits have stopped. You are still a little fiesty sometimes, but what we thought was colic was just you needing to poop. Thank goodness you figured that out! You feel so much better now that you are a regular pooper:)

White noise calms you down. Thank goodness I have it on my itunes on my phone. We keep it playing a lot around here:)

The only "toy" you like to sit in is the Rainforest Bouncer.

You like to be out and about just like your sister did and does.

You like to sleep in your carseat.

Your hair has a red tint to it, and your eyes are dark blue. Meyers's were more of a gray blue when she was born and stayed that way for over a year. Your eyes are not light, but are definitely bluer than Meyers eyes were when she was born.

I know you are sticking your tongue out, but this picture looked more "like you" than any other picture I took this morning.

You weren't really smiling here, but you kind of look like you are a little:)

Meyers at one month.

I don't think you look anything like your sister according to these pictures, but I do when I look at your sweet face. We are so happy to have had you in our lives for a month now. I know time will start flying from here, and that makes me sad a little:)

I love you, Emery!
Happy One Month Birthday!

Good Day

I know I sound shocked every time I talk about having a good day, but it's kind of because I am. The first 3 + weeks home were rough. You know it's going to be that way, but I was starting to think that I would never leave the house with both girls and that I would never again have a moment where I wasn't holding Emery with one arm and doing whatever I could with the other. When you are in the thick of things, it's hard to see outside of it.

Today was another reminder that things will get easier, and I can manage and mother two children. And also, that I will be able to get out with them and not be stuck in our house forever:)

We dropped something off at somebody's house this morning. That was good because driving around let Emery get to sleep. After that, we went to Loft to return something, and I even got to walk around and try on a few things. Love when they have their 40% off sale! And Meyers loves holding my bag when I buy something:)

We got home around 11:45. Emery stayed asleep in her car seat for another hour and a half. Meyers never did that. We would bring her in from the car, and she would stay asleep for 15 minutes tops. It was so nice to be able to fix our lunch and be able to sit down and eat with Meyers and spend some time with just her. Lately, I end up bouncing Emery and grabbing what I can with the other hand during lunch. Meyers has not been napping lately, but I told her she needed to rest today. I took her upstairs, and she went to sleep immediately! When I came back down, Emery was stirring. Her carseat nap was over:) I fed her, and she went right back to sleep on my chest. So.....both my girls were asleep at the same time, but I didn't get anything accomplished since Emery was sleeping on me. But that's okay. We had a great day, and I got to spend quality time with each of my girls by themselves.

Definitely a good day!

Emery's "Birth" Day Story

Finally.....I'm just now getting around to typing this - 4 weeks later! Going to bed early has been a priority over sitting down at the computer to blog:)

We woke up super early that day to be at the hospital by 5:30 am! John's parents came over to stay with Meyers, and my parents met us at our house to follow us to the hospital - because we needed an escort (I'm kidding, mom! I'm glad y'all followed us over there!). I was such a mess the night before telling Meyers good night since we would not be seeing her the next morning before we left. I was so sad about that!!

I took one last picture that morning at home at 39 weeks - only picture not in a black shirt! Ha!

We also took a picture at the hospital to fully document the event:)

My c-section was scheduled for 7:30, but we had to get there two hours early. After talking to insurance or billing people (I'm not sure who they were), I went back to get my gown on and get hooked up to the contraction machine (I've sat here for 5 minutes trying to think of the real name for it, and I can't, so that's what I'm calling it and moving on!). It's so nerve wracking being back there by yourself. They ask you a zillion questions, one of which is "do you feel safe returning home?". I'm guessing this is one reason they don't let your husband go back there with you so that they can ask you questions like that. I literally laughed outloud at some of the questions they asked, probably from being anxious and nervous. Like they asked me if I was keeping my baby. That's not a funny question because obviously plenty of people are not keeping their baby, but I laughed and the nurse looked at me funny! Speaking of nurses, my "before" nurses were SO awesome! They were super sweet. They also all loved my hair and kept telling other nurses to come look at it. One of them even asked if she could take a picture on her phone to show her stylist! Needless to say, they made my morning.....well, at least until Emery made her entrance:)

John was finally able to come back there, and we just waited some more. My blood pressure was high as soon as they started monitoring it. I think it was from just being nervous, but they were concerned about toxemia and ran some blood work. I always thought that toxemia went away when you delivered your baby, so I wasn't sure why they were concerned. Nobody ever really gave me an answer on that one. John took a picture of me in my gown and cap, but I am NOT posting that pretty picture!

Finally, it was time to go back. I am not sure why I was so much more nervous this time. I knew what to expect, but I was. They take you back by yourself, and then your husband gets to come back. I know they do that so he won't see the spinal and pass out, but it stinks being in there by yourself. It's so weird how they roll you in to this bright room full of people and they are all about to see all of your business and you feel like you should at least introduce yourselves to each other. Awkward!

With Meyers, the assisting surgeon (I'm guessing that was her title), came in when my doctor did. This time, the assisting surgeon was a "He", and he came in before the spinal and was so sweet! He held my hand and told me to squeeze when they were doing it. He seriously was so sweet. I'm guessing he didn't have to come in that early since the other one didn't, but I'm so glad he did because he made me feel so taken care of and not quite as nervous! He also was so excited that we didn't know what we were having. When he first came in, he asked me what we were having. I told him we didn't know, and he said "Oh, so this is a surprise birthday party!" My doctor came in a few minutes later. That makes you feel better, too, when your doctor comes in. I LOVE my doctor. I feel like we would totally be friends if she wasn't my doctor. I hope I don't ever have to find a new one for a long time because I would be devastated!

In a c-section, they "test" to see if the spinal is working. I remembered that from Meyers. They were doing that, but it seemed like they were about to get started, and John was not in there. I didn't want to seem too panicky, so I played dumb like I had no peripheral vision, and asked them if John was in there yet. One of them told me they were still testing, and another one said, "no, they are starting." So they quickly got John.

I hope this isn't too graphic for anyone, but this is our family book, so I want the details. This time the c-section, took a good bit longer to "get in there". I could not feel any pain, but felt so much tugging and pulling and heard so many noises I did not want to hear. It wasn't that way with Meyers. Hers seemed really quick, and I just felt pressure when they pulled her out. I just kept breathing deep and trying not to think about what I was feeling. I started getting really worried that it was taking so long. I couldn't see anything, but I could hear my doctor and the assisting surgeon talking the whole time. They were talking about Modern Family and doing your own taxes. Their voices did not seem too worried or panicked, so I was guessing everything was fine. With Meyers, I lost a lot of blood (not so much I needed a transfusion or anything, but enough to make me almost pass out). I was worried that would happen this time, but it didn't.

FINALLY, the assisting surgeon asked John to "call it", meaning if the baby was a boy or girl ( I KNOW it's a surprise when you find out what you are having at 20 weeks, and I'm sure that is exciting, but waiting to find out what you are having is a really cool experience! Finding out in the room with all the crazy emotions you are feeling anyway about finally meeting your new baby is so amazing!). They didn't do that last time. John stood up, and it took him a few seconds, but he finally said "It's a girl!" I burst into tears and kept telling John "we are a girl family!" I said the whole time that a boy would be ideal (since we already have a girl), but sisters are sweet! My close friends knew I wanted another girl, but now that we have one for sure, I can say that I was so ecstatic that we had another girl! Boys are precious, and I had 9 months to think about having a mama's boy and me being his princess and the cute John Johns that he would wear:), but I wanted a sister for Meyers. Obviously, I was thrilled to have a healthy baby. With so many things that can go wrong, a healthy baby is an enormous blessing, and I'm thankful for ours.

After she was out, John took pictures and kept coming over to update me on things. I just laid there and cried and was so happy to hear my girl's lungs while she screamed her head off! It took them longer to get me "back together". Apparently I have some issues when it comes to that! It took a while with Meyers, too.

Emery Carroll Eason was born at 7:54 am. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

We went to recovery and were supposed to stay for two hours - new hospital rule. We actually stayed about 3 because my blood pressure was still high. When Meyers was born, she had a slight temperature, so they took her to the nursery not long after we were in recovery. Emery got to stay in there the whole time with us, so that was nice. When they told us I had to stay longer, I started crying! I was SO ready to see Meyers. I was having these irrational thoughts like she thought we were abandoning her, and I could not wait to see her! John went out and told my parents that we had a girl. His parents had said they wanted to wait to find out when they got to the hospital, but they couldn't wait, so John called them.

Hanging out in recovery

I was so excited to see Meyers when we finally got into a room. I was so anxious to see how she reacted to me in the hospital bed and to her new sibling. She was not too scared of me, but she didn't want to immediately get in the bed with me like I had hoped. She was so into Emery from the moment she walked in the room.

My heart was bursting during this!

This is Meyers saying "shhh!" because Emery was sleeping. So cute!

Love this picture of them!

I finally got Meyers to cuddle with me!

First family picture.
Could my face be any more swollen? Oh, yes, it can. Wait til' you see our "going home" picture. Oh, and my hair looked much cuter before my c section. I am not sure what happened to make it look so crazy here:)

My parents stayed at our house while we were at the hospital and brought Meyers to the hospital at least three times a day per my request! She had a fun time being spoiled by her grandparents while we were gone!

Her door banner that I made

Birth details

This is the girls in their first matching outfit!!! It's a unisex smocked gown for Emery! John was not super happy about this choice of "going home" outfit if we had had a boy. He's all about smocked things, but he thought it looked too girly. Good thing we had a girl:)

Totally random, but I LOVE saying "the girls. I'll tell John "the girls are going to wear XYZ or "I'm out running errands with the girls". I love it!

Leaving the hospital.
See. I told you my face was swollen!

Emery,
Everyone always says "I don't know if I can love a second baby like I love my first." I get that, but I had no doubt that God would expand my heart with love for you. It happened even before you were born, and continued to expand when I first saw you, first held you, first bonded with you, first kissed you and cuddled you. My heart is now huge with love for you AND your sister. I love you so much. I am excited for your addition to our family. You are so loved by me and your daddy, and Meyers tells you all day long how much she loves you. She normally says "Hello Emery. I loooovvvvee you." It's pretty cute! She wants to touch you and pat you all the time. I wish both of you could remember that one day. I'm just trying to soak in those moments because they are special to me. I don't want to rush anything, but I so look forward to seeing yours and Meyers relationship grow, as well as the special bond that you will have. I look forward to watching you grow and seeing your personality form. That has been one of the neatest things to see with your sister, and I can't wait to see it with you.

I love you, sweet girl. Welcome to our family!

Love, Mama

Wordless Wednesday (not so much)

I had to document our great day, hence the words:)

I thought Emery had a check-up this morning. John had his boss with him today and would not be able to help me tackle the doctor's office with two by myself. I had already given myself a pep talk and planned my morning accordingly. Well.....I'll have to redo my pep talk next week because that's when her appointment is!! I'm so glad I called to double check this morning. I would have felt real silly showing up on the wrong day.

Anyway, since we were mostly ready to go already and the morning was going so smoothly, I knew we had to get out of the house. I don't feel like typing all the details, so here is a list of all the places we went:
-Holiday Ham to pick up food for a friend that JUST adopted a baby
-Hallmark to get a gift for their new baby
-Target for a bunch of random stuff
-Friend's house to drop food and gifts off
-Chick fil a for me and Meyers to eat and to feed Emery her bottle ( I even let Meyers play in the playground. Yes, I am such a sweet mom! I don't let her go in by herself, so I end up being the baby-sitter for everyone else's wild children. Saying this activity is not my favorite is an understatement!)
-Office Max to exchange something

Both girls were angels while we were gone for 4 hours today! It was such a great day! Now we are at home hanging out waiting for John to get home:) The girls are still being precious, so I'm not even counting down the hours until he gets here:)

**Meyers had no accidents while we were gone and has had no accidents all day!

I couldn't get a picture of them together, but I took these while we were at Chick fil a.

So Glad

......that this girl loves the sling! Otherwise I wouldn't be able to do anything:)

She is peacefully snoring all cuddled in my sling, and I am actually eating lunch with Meyers! Whoo! Hoo!

She Likes It!

She really likes it!

That's my 80's cereal commercial reference:)

So far, Emery does not care for the papasan chair bouncy seat or the swing. I mean, who would care for those things when know your mama can hold you all day? Ha! Don't get me wrong, I would love to sit and hold her all day if I had a full time maid, errand runner, and nanny to help with Meyers, but that's not the case:) I busted out the Rain Forest bouncer today. This may be the only way I'll ever be able to get ready by myself or start a load of laundry for the foreseeable future!! Yay!

I Did It!

I got out with both girls today and went to Target. It only took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to get out of the house, and I didn't even shower! I almost gave up and didn't go, but I'm glad I did. It boosted my confidence and got us all out of these four walls, which is good for everybody!

As soon as I walked in Target, I realized I forgot Meyers's potty seat. She had just gone, so I was hoping she'd be okay. We went around Target and got everything we needed. I only needed like 3 more things, and Meyers said she needed to potty! We made it to the restroom, and I planned to hold her over it. I figured she wouldn't go for that, and she didn't. She started crying, and it was really pitiful. ***Meyers has been having some potty regression. I fully expected this to happen, but had hoped it wouldn't.***

Since we've been potty training, I usually take her out in plastic panties to make it easier on me just in case, but she usually never has accidents. So she had her plastic panties on, and I told her it was my fault for forgetting the potty seat, and that I really wish she could hold it until we could get to the car, but it's okay if she can't. I loaded everybody back in the cart, and I got the last few things I needed and checked out. I asked her if she still needed to go when we got to the car. I figured she had tee teed in her panties, but she said she needed to go. Would you believe that she had not had an accident and went a lot?? She held it while we finished at Target! I was so proud and slightly frustrated at the same time! She has been having a lot of accidents at home! It's so confusing to me that she held it at Target, but can't at home. Strange! But I was super happy I didn't have a mess to clean up!

Now Emery is asleep on me, and Meyers is eating lunch, and my house is so quiet! So nice!

A few random things about Emery and me:

Emery has been doing so much better! She is like a different baby now that she has figured out how to poop:) It has been an amazing difference! So I'm guessing she did not have colic..... I was praying yesterday and thanking Jesus for my healthy girls, Emery finally being able to poop on a regular basis, and for all the people that have colicky babies right now! Screaming babies can take a toll on you!

Emery slept in her pack n play for about 6 hours last night! That is huge because this girl likes to be held while she sleeps. Meyers was the same way, so I knew we weren't causing permanent habits by letting her sleep on John's chest, but we want this girl to learn how to sleep on her own. It makes me so nervous with her sleeping on John, but it was the only way any of us got ANY sleep. You do what you have to do! We swaddled her last night, and that seemed to work! Meyers didn't like having her arms swaddled, but Emery seems to like it. I picked up two more swaddle me blankets while I was at Target! So excited that this girl might be moving into her room soon:)

I got pretty excited for myself today, too. I have on a pair of regular Seven jeans (not a size 7 for anyone who might be confused that I could actually fit into a size 7). They are zipped, but not buttoned. I am still wearing that ab band thing from my c section. That thing is kind of bulky, so I probably could have buttoned them if I wasn't wearing it. But it makes me feel better to wear it.....at least for a little while longer. Fitting back in your clothes after a baby is SO exciting! It took a little longer with Meyers to get back in my clothes, especially my cute jeans, so I'm pretty pumped!

So.....it's a good day at the Eason house:)

Emery's First Bath

I'm sure this is not super exciting to anyone but us, but this is my girls' baby book......

 Emery's first bath

Emery had her first bath a few nights ago. Her belly button cord actually fell off at 8 days, but we just waited because we are lazy like that:) No.....actually it's because Meyers's belly button cord didn't fall off until she as about three weeks old. It took forever! We knew that if she could wait three weeks to get a "real" bath, then so could Emery:) Bathing newborns is hard! It is totally a two person job!

Meyers's first bath
**I love comparison pics!!

Valentine's Day 2012

John finally went back to work yesterday. I was so grateful for a week of paternity leave and him taking a week of vacation on top of that to be at home with us. My mom took off and came over yesterday to help ease me into being at home by myself. She didn't have to do that, but I'm glad she did.

Meyers had school today, so it was just me and Emery at home by ourselves. John took Meyers to school, so that was a big help! I had plans to run a couple of places today. It was my first day to be out  with Emery and to be driving around! Whoo! Hoo! The morning started off kind of rough. It took us FOREVER to get out of the house! Emery cried all morning making it hard for me to get ready. I almost decided not to leave the house, but I'm so glad I did. I went to the post office to mail some things I sold on ebay, and then we went to Target. This girl must love to be out and about because she was an angel and slept the whole time! It made me remember that Meyers was that way, too. It's so hard to get out sometimes with a newborn, but you are normally always glad you did because you NEED to get out of the house, and they normally needed to get out, too. Maybe one day soon, I'll feel ready to take them both out! Anyway, I pushed it and stayed at Target until it was time for her to eat. She woke up 5 minutes from home and screamed, but at least I knew it was because she was hungry and not because she was hurting like we assume the rest of her screaming is for. I fed her as soon as we got home and she went right back to sleep. I know this sounds crazy because that is what babies normally do, but she has been so extremely fussy that I don't expect that from her.

***One thing that I think made the difference today is that she has pooped 5 times in the last 24 hours. The poor girl has been pooping about every 2.5 days since we've been home from the hospital. I am praying that that is the reason she has been so fussy and that maybe she is on track now. She has been so content all afternoon and sleeping so peacefully! It's been awesome!***

I was supposed to go to a friend's trunk show today, but didn't make it because it took us so long to get out of the house today (sorry, alicia!). Other than that, it was a really nice day today. John came by to pick me and Emery up to go pick up Meyers from school. I still can't lift Meyers. The few times I've had to, I hurt afterwards, so John is dropping her off and picking her up from school for a few more weeks. I am SO thankful for his flexible job and a territory close to our house!!!

After John dropped us off at home, he went back to work. Emery slept all afternoon, and I got to just hang out with Meyers with no distractions, which was nice, and I know she appreciated having all of my attention. Meyers had a big day today with her Valentine's party at school. She thought that was super fun! I got her a Minnie Mouse happy that I had waiting on her when she got home from school. She also had a Valentine card from Gran and Pop waiting for her when she got home from school on the porch.

John brought Valentine's home for his girls! He got Meyers this book.

She loves Karen Katz books, and it's the one from Hallmark, and he recorded himself reading it to her. I thought that was super sweet!

He got Emery this sweet Kissy Kissy gown. I love that he knows just what to get! He is SUCH a good girl daddy!

I didn't think we were exchanging gifts. I was actually really proud of myself for even getting him a card, seeing as how I really haven't left the house in the last two weeks. But he got me this necklace that I have been dropping hints about for a while.

It's for my two peas in my pod - Meyers and Emery!! I am so excited about it! It's not here yet, but it's on its way. I can't wait to wear it!

We got Chili's to-go tonight. Very romantic, right? But it was perfect just hanging out at home with our girls on Valentine's day. We can always do the romantic thing next year:)

Mimi and Poppy came by to drop off Valentine's goodies for the girls tonight after dinner. Meyers is thinking it's Christmas or something around here:) This was the first time we've celebrated Valentine's with her, and she kind of got what was going on. She doesn't know what it's all about, she just knew we were celebrating:) It made me excited for all the little special things that you can do for all holidays to make them memorable for her and Emery.

Okay, now I'm going to go veg and watch TV with John until it's time for Emery to eat again. And then hopefully, we will all be getting some sleep tonight:)
