Meyers had school today, so it was just me and Emery at home by ourselves. John took Meyers to school, so that was a big help! I had plans to run a couple of places today. It was my first day to be out with Emery and to be driving around! Whoo! Hoo! The morning started off kind of rough. It took us FOREVER to get out of the house! Emery cried all morning making it hard for me to get ready. I almost decided not to leave the house, but I'm so glad I did. I went to the post office to mail some things I sold on ebay, and then we went to Target. This girl must love to be out and about because she was an angel and slept the whole time! It made me remember that Meyers was that way, too. It's so hard to get out sometimes with a newborn, but you are normally always glad you did because you NEED to get out of the house, and they normally needed to get out, too. Maybe one day soon, I'll feel ready to take them both out! Anyway, I pushed it and stayed at Target until it was time for her to eat. She woke up 5 minutes from home and screamed, but at least I knew it was because she was hungry and not because she was hurting like we assume the rest of her screaming is for. I fed her as soon as we got home and she went right back to sleep. I know this sounds crazy because that is what babies normally do, but she has been so extremely fussy that I don't expect that from her.
***One thing that I think made the difference today is that she has pooped 5 times in the last 24 hours. The poor girl has been pooping about every 2.5 days since we've been home from the hospital. I am praying that that is the reason she has been so fussy and that maybe she is on track now. She has been so content all afternoon and sleeping so peacefully! It's been awesome!***
I was supposed to go to a friend's trunk show today, but didn't make it because it took us so long to get out of the house today (sorry, alicia!). Other than that, it was a really nice day today. John came by to pick me and Emery up to go pick up Meyers from school. I still can't lift Meyers. The few times I've had to, I hurt afterwards, so John is dropping her off and picking her up from school for a few more weeks. I am SO thankful for his flexible job and a territory close to our house!!!
After John dropped us off at home, he went back to work. Emery slept all afternoon, and I got to just hang out with Meyers with no distractions, which was nice, and I know she appreciated having all of my attention. Meyers had a big day today with her Valentine's party at school. She thought that was super fun! I got her a Minnie Mouse happy that I had waiting on her when she got home from school. She also had a Valentine card from Gran and Pop waiting for her when she got home from school on the porch.
John brought Valentine's home for his girls! He got Meyers this book.
She loves Karen Katz books, and it's the one from Hallmark, and he recorded himself reading it to her. I thought that was super sweet!
He got Emery this sweet Kissy Kissy gown. I love that he knows just what to get! He is SUCH a good girl daddy!
I didn't think we were exchanging gifts. I was actually really proud of myself for even getting him a card, seeing as how I really haven't left the house in the last two weeks. But he got me this necklace that I have been dropping hints about for a while.
It's for my two peas in my pod - Meyers and Emery!! I am so excited about it! It's not here yet, but it's on its way. I can't wait to wear it!
We got Chili's to-go tonight. Very romantic, right? But it was perfect just hanging out at home with our girls on Valentine's day. We can always do the romantic thing next year:)
Mimi and Poppy came by to drop off Valentine's goodies for the girls tonight after dinner. Meyers is thinking it's Christmas or something around here:) This was the first time we've celebrated Valentine's with her, and she kind of got what was going on. She doesn't know what it's all about, she just knew we were celebrating:) It made me excited for all the little special things that you can do for all holidays to make them memorable for her and Emery.
Okay, now I'm going to go veg and watch TV with John until it's time for Emery to eat again. And then hopefully, we will all be getting some sleep tonight:)
