First week of school matchy-matchy

We'd been in North Carolina a week and went out to dinner with some friends (and their families) John works with and Meyers fell and busted her head open. It was so scary and I knew we were headed to the ER for stitches, but the dads took action while I freaked out and John held Meyers.

Poor thing the next day. Thankfully it healed great and made me feel better about not taking her for stitches (I was traumatized from taking Emery for stitches two weeks prior to this happening!)

too cool for school

nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby!

afterschool lunch at Sonic

children's museum with friends

no nap this day!

missing our double stroller that was still in storage on this day:)

paddle boating at Pullen Park

train ride at Pullen Park

You know, just watching the kindle with lovey:)

these girls........:)

Oh happy day! We finally closed on our house!

Picnic dinner in our new den

We spent a LOT of time at Home Depot!

Safety first - getting that milk buckled up!

afterschool pizza lunch

We spent our first night in our new house on September 29. On October 1, I heard a leaking noise in the guest bathroom. The guest shower was leaking into the guest room closet. We had been using that bathroom because the master didn't have blinds up yet. This is water pooling in the paint.

By the time the plumber got there and turned on the shower, it was gushing out of the closet wall like a faucet!

This was the culprit.

And this is what our new guest bedroom looked like for the majority of October while it dried out, the closet was put pack together and new carpet was put in.

We Did It!

I feel like singing the Dora the Explorer "We Did It" song which has somehow weaseled it's way into our family. We made it 5+ years without our kids discovering Dora. Thanks to Kindle Free Time Unlimited, we are inundated with Dora lately. But "We did it. We did it. We did it. Yeah, yeah, we did it" feels like our theme song today.

It's been a crazy few days, and Wells Fargo is on my list due to their incompetency, but we finally closed on our house this afternoon. It's only been a month in this apartment but it feels like it's been at least six.

A month in an apartment isn't/shouldn't be that terrible. But I've realized in the last week or so that while I don't love this apartment, it's not all the apartment's fault. I really hate not having MY stuff. I'm so looking forward to my couch, my mattress and sheets, my pots and pans, the girls' toys, etc. A friend texted me this week saying how I would appreciate my new house even more because of our time here in the apartment. And she's right. I can already feel it. Looking forward to being exhausted tomorrow from moving and unpacking and going to sleep in MY bed in my new house that's MINE:)

First Day of Dance 2014 - Meyers and Emery

The girls both started dance this week. Emery had a fit every week when she didn't get to go to ballet with Meyers last year. Most of the studios here take 2 year olds that aren't potty trained, so I signed her up too.
Emery's first day of ballet was yesterday (and Meyers's second day of school). She was NOT happy about not going to school that day. She thinks she's 5!

This was the only picture I got there. She absolutely loved it!

Meyers had her first day of tap/ballet today. She loved it, too! She missed not doing tap last year, so I'm glad she's getting to do it here.

I was a little leery about a dance studio. The places Meyers has taken the last two years were not studios and were very sweet. Sometimes studios can be a little crazy and much - especially for little girls. This studio is very strict in what you have to wear - their brand of choice for shoes, leotards, etc. so I was worried it might be intense. But I love it there. It is SO organized and well run. It's actually my favorite thing here so far:) Yay for dance class!

August iphone Pictures

Jennifer Nettles Live at the Garden concert

John was already in North Carolina and we bought tickets before we knew we were moving, so Jenn was my date:)

Sweet friends at church. My girls love the Tillmans- this was my last Sunday teaching 3 year olds with Jennifer T.

We did lots of painting last month - it always makes me feel like "mom of the year" when I let my kids paint:)

We spent lots of mornings at CFA too.

Zoo date with the Wildricks

Emery decided she was okay with sitting on the potty. That's about as far as we've gotten.

Meyers was really excited to bust out her cowboy boots again:)

We did a lot of house hunting through FaceTime. This was the winner.

Emery went to the ER for the first time.

Meyers decided she wanted a ponytail and just like that, she aged 3 years!

Dean and Meyers at Hayes's pizza birthday party

Cuties on Sunday before church:)

Went to my last book club where almost everybody was able to come and they surprised me with an amazon gift card. I was SO shocked! And they all toasted and said sweet things about me while I cried:) Such a special night! I'm going to miss book club so much!

The girls had dentist appointments

Meyers had a urologist check up the same day and the girls had a blast riding all the animals.

Another breakfast at CFA with Brooke and Drew where the sweetest man made the kids balloons.

I did a little packing this month and Meyers was so excited about this picture she took of me:)

We made a welcome home sign for John. He was gone for a little over a month before the girls saw him. He last saw them July 19 and came home August 23.  I saw him last at the end of July while we were house hunting.

This girl is always stealing my smoothies.

I ran my first 5k with Lauren. I met my goal of running the entire race. I didn't care how slow I was as long as I didn't walk. And I did it. On the hottest weekend of 2014!

Meyers went to Shaw's karate birthday party and had a blast doing karate!

The girls went to Dylan's birthday party where some of us mamas were all wearing some form of Aqua and coral:)

We moved and said goodbye to Tennessee:(

Several friends texted this picture to me and told me we made the Buckley's magazine they send out:)

We went shopping at one of the malls closest to us that has a nordstroms. Um....love having a nordstroms close by! I'd trade it to be closer to home but I'm trying to be positive:)

We went to our new neighborhood to eat dinner at the park.

We found some yummy ice cream AND a Krispy Kreme whose hot sign is on almost all the time. Dangerous!

We joined the nicest childrens museum.

Hanging out in the men's department at nordstroms while john tried on jeans. We went to the mall two days in a row:)

We visited a church that's adding on. You have to park far away and then ride on a golf cart to get to church. The girls loved that!

We went to a Durham Bulls game with some new friends and a Labor Day cook out the next day with friends from John's work (I took no pictures but we had a great time).

August was busy, fun, and sad. We are looking forward to routine, normalcy and moving into our house in September:)
