Maybe????
This is what happened while I was trying to get a sleepy, screaming baby to nap.

Playing Dress Up
John needed to get his haircut today. He usually does it on a weekday. Since I'm home (not literally home, but with them by myself) all week, I didn't want to stay at home on a Saturday. Saturdays are family days!
John goes to the same barbershop where he got his very first haircut. It's small and not the place for two little ones. The barbershop is close to my parents' house, so John dropped us off at my parents' while he went to get his haircut.
Meyers had tons of fun playing with her cousins who were over, too and playing dress up! I've never seen her in a headband.....she looks so grown up to me:)

An Oven and a Daredevil
**Since I'm blogging from my phone while I rock Emery, the pictures are a little out of order. Gotta multitask!
We went to the mall today to buy a new oven and microwave at Sears. Our current beast of an oven is terrible, but I thought we would have to live with it until we could afford to gut the kitchen. Not only is it ugly (it looks like its 50 years old, but the paperwork on it says it was purchased in 1991. It does remind me of the oven at my grandma's house, so for that reason I'll be slightly sad to see it leave!), but it causes me to burn everything!! I am not a great cook, so I definitely don't need the oven working against me!
I did appreciate that it was a double oven. I've never had that before and I liked it. We really liked the double ovens that have two ovens on the bottom so that we could finally get a microwave that does not go on the counter. Samsung makes this fancy double oven that only has one door but has this thing you put inside if you want to cook two things at two different settings. I was so excited to find this because it's perfect for us since I won't always need two ovens, but it has the capability for when I do.
Even better is that John has these reward points at work which are going to help pay for a chunk of the purchase! This isn't anything remotely close to what we talked about doing with these points. It came out of the blue this week when I burned some brownies:), but I'm so excited!!! It will still be a good while before we can gut the kitchen, but all of our appliances are new and stainless steel now, and this will help ease the 80's on out of our kitchen! I think it may even help our lovely Formica "butcher block" counters look a little less terrible:)
We ate lunch at the mall and then headed out to leave. Meyers saw some kids jumping on those bungee bouncy things. We kept asking her if she wanted to do it. She didn't say yes at first, but she didn't say no. Finally she did say yes. I.WAS.SHOCKED. Anybody that knows Meyers knows that she is not a risk taker - ever! We paid the $7 for 4 minutes of jumping and asked if we got our money back if she freaked out at the harness alone - which is what I totally thought would happen.
She got on that trampoline and put on the bravest smile. I think she was a little scared, but she was being so brave. The girl was super sweet and only bounced her a little bit easing her into it. Meyers loved it! It was totally worth the $7, and actually I would have paid more to see our sweet girl who is so not a risk taker be brave and jump on that thing. I know this sounds crazy, but I seriously thought I was going to cry I was so proud of her. If you know Meyers and her personality, you know why I was SO proud of her!
Emery even sat there sweet (not screaming her head off!) and watched the whole thing!

Three Months
Emery - you are 3 months old today!
On our home scale, you weigh: 14.8 pounds
You are in 3m/3-6m and even some 6m clothes.
You are in a size 2 diaper.
You are eating 5 6.5 oz bottles every 4 hours during the day.
You are still spitting up:)
For the last week or so, you have been sleeping 9 and 10 hours at night!!! We usually feed you your last bottle for the day around 10:00 or 10:30. One morning you even slept until 8:45!!!! A-mazing!
We have changed your formula one more time. We are not changing again! Dr. Catherine thought you could maybe get off the formula for colic/milk allergy completely, so we tried that. You went back to being crazy/fussy/screaming a lot, so we are not doing that again. Your bottles are half the alimentum (for colic/milk allergy) and half sensitive. For some reason, this seems to work best for you.
You are such a talker! A loud talker! We all love getting you to smile and talk and laugh!
You are still not a great napper. You are either being held or in the bjorn for most of your naps. I can't complain since you are being such a great night time sleeper!
Your eyes are still blue.
We aren't sure if you hate the car or your carseat or both. I have gotten used to climbing in the backseat (while it's moving - John driving!) to quiet you down. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. It's not unusual for you to scream the entire time we are in the car. Not sure how that's going to work when we take a roadtrip:)
Your big sister sure does love you and you love her! You "follow" her as much as you can.
Meyers - 3 months in same bouncy.
**We were in our pantry at our old house because there was a tornado warning!**
Meyers's 3 Month Pic
In these pictures, I don't think you favor that much, but in person I think y'all look a lot alike sometimes.
I think 3 months (or 12 weeks since that came first ) like for most babies was the magic number for you. You are sleeping through the night and getting more content when you are not being held. I finally started working out last week and you will lay on your playmat for the whole 25 minute video:) A month ago, you weren't doing that, so I am loving that you are a little more chilled out now! We love you so much, Emery! You have completed our family!!
Crafting and Cute Babies
A friend from MOPS (Laura- the girl I do crafts and service with) came over this morning so we could finish the gifts for the childcare workers since our last meeting is next week. We made these frames last week as our craft. We thought it would be an easy and inexpensive ( but cute) gift for the sweet ladies that watch our children while we are at MOPS. I thought they turned out really cute!
Laura's kids are close in age to mine. Before we had the babies, the big kids always played together so well. Today was no different. They played while the babies took turns sleeping and eating. Before they left, we put both girls on the playmat. I looked down and they were holding each other's little hands!!! How cute is that?!

Weekend Fun
On Friday, we went to the zoo. Apparently it was the day to go because it was packed! We even had to park in the grass - that never happens to us on weekdays. I guess Friday during the day was the start of everyone's weekend! Before we went I got a few pictures of the girls all matchy-matchy in their alligator outfits. I wanted to eat them up!
John keeps asking me how long we are going to match them. And my answer is forever.
Just kidding! But I will be matching/coordinating them as much as possible until Meyers pitches a fit because she is "too cool for school". I'm hoping that's a long way away because seriously, how cute are they? Yes, they are mine and I'm totally biased:)
Meyers is still loving being in the stroller with her sister. It's really cute. I was slightly worried that we would buy a double stroller, and she would all the sudden be "miss independent" and not want to ride, but that hasn't happened yet
It was nice having John with us. Normally when we just go with friends, I can't spend as much time showing Meyers all the animals because I'm trying to keep the stroller moving so Emery doesn't lose it:) She actually was awake until we started to walk out. Figures! But she was sweet and content the whole time.
Friday night, John and I went on a date to Ruth's Chris. I totally forgot to take a picture of us documenting this long overdue date! I am still thinking about our yummy food! So good!
On Saturday, I took Meyers to a birthday party at a yogurt shop. This might be the best, easiest birthday idea ever, and I may steal it! She had a lot of fun. She doesn't love ice cream; she's fickle about it (like most foods!), but she dug in when she saw the other boys and girls doing it.
Saturday afternoon, Meyers took a nap. That is a seriously rare thing around here. AND the most exciting part about that is that BOTH girls were napping at the same time. Whoo! Hoo! John and I actually got to take about a 30 minute nap while they were sleeping. First time that's happened since my parents were at our house the few days after Emery was born!

Bedhead
Check out this crazy bedhead!! She had just woken up, so that explains the face she's giving me:)
Meyers RARELY naps anymore. By rarely, I mean once every other week if we are lucky and the stars and moon align. And that usually only happens if both of us are home and one of us can rock her or let her nap with us. This was taken last week when her and I took a nap together. I would say by the looks of her hair that she slept hard and had a good nap:)
I'm sure she will love me for documenting this one day! Ha!

Meyers - 3 Years Old
Meyers - you are three years old! You are:
- Obsessed with lipgloss right now. You call it "your lips". You would keep it up to your lips constantly if I would let you.
- Obsessed with the toy diaper bag that you got for Christmas. It just had diapers in it, but you've since added keys, a phone, AND your lip gloss. You carry it around the house, and you sometimes want to bring it in the car. But recently you've been wanting to bring it in the store, restaurant, etc., with you. At Kroger the other day, you started asking for your "lips", and I told you it was at home (because I thought it was). You looked into your diaper bag and pulled it out! I had no idea that you had stashed it in there.
- Are equally a mama and daddy's girl. When you were little, it was all mama. But you are sharing the love now that you are getting older:) I love to see how excited you get when your daddy gets home!
- Are so sweet to your baby sister. You have adjusted SO well to her. You are never jealous and love her to pieces. You always tell us how much you love her, how cute she is, how sweet she is, etc. It warms my heart that you are so in love with her! You ask for her first thing in the morning, and you always make sure we aren't leaving her at home when we are getting ready to go somewhere:) You are such a little mama!
- Had some potty regression right before and after Emery was born, but you are doing much better now. You rarely have an accident. You still wear pull-ups at nap time and bed time.
- Rarely take a nap anymore. Most days, you still "rest" in your bed, but you hardly ever fall asleep. I still think you need the sleep, but you just won't do it.
- Only want to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Yo Gabba Gabba - like all the time! We are working on you understanding that you can not watch it all day long!
- Love playing with your kitchen and reading books. You still love reading your Noah's Ark book, your Bible, Little Brown Bear, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear. When you read your Bible, you point out and name all the people on the front (Adam, Eve, Peter, Moses, David, Goliath, Zacheus, Jesus, and Noah). Your daddy told you who they all are, and I have no idea how you remember it, but you do. And it's pretty cute!
- Can remember large chunks of your favorite Bible stories and parts of Little Brown Bear. You'll be "reading" by yourself, and I'll hear you telling the story. I know a lot of kids do this and you used to do it with short, one line board books, but I'm still surprised when I hear you do it with a longer story.
- Weigh 29.5 pounds
- Are 34.5 inches tall
- Wear a size 6 shoe
- Wear anywhere from a 12 month (in some dresses) to a 3t depending on the brand.
- Love school.
- Love your friends. It's really sweet to hear you talk about them and pray for them at night!
- Tell on yourself. It's really funny. If you stand up on the couch while I'm in the kitchen or stand on the baby gate, for example, you tell me. Maybe you'll always do that.....even when you're a teenager:)
- Talk about yourself in third person sometimes. I know you will grow out of this, but it's so cute. You don't call yourself Meyers, but when I ask you things like "Did you have a good day at school?" You'll say, "she did." I love it!
- Answer with "I do", instead of just a yes. I'll ask you if you want to go to Target, Chick-fil-a, etc., and you'll say "I do want to go to Target!". It's so cute.
- Are still very sweet-natured and laid-back, but you are getting fiestier and you will pitch little fits. They could be worse; that's why I'm calling them little:)
- Are still a picky eater, but you are definitely branching out. You are actually wanting to try things we are eating. A few months ago, you never would have done that.
- Still sleep in a crib and I'm keeping you in there until you show signs of jumping out!
- Still love to be rocked, sung and read to at night.
- Are still on a preventive inhaler and take singulair every day. You rarely need your albuterol inhaler. It is usually during the fall months when your asthma flairs up.
- Always want to tell your friends or grandparents or daddy (if he's at work) what you did. For example, if you did something great like picked up your toys on your own or ate a good lunch or dinner, I'll make a big deal out of it. And you immediately say you want to tell daddy or mimi or gran or one of your friends what you did. It's really cute!
- Love to help unload the dishwasher and help in the kitchen.
- Love to swing, ride your motorized four wheeler (for leeler), push the little tikes car (the beep beep) and blow bubbles outside.
- Are loving being in the double stroller with your sister. I can tell you think it's so fun to have somebody right beside you in the stroller. I normally don't buckle you in, especially places like the zoo where you will be getting in and out. Well now that you are in the double stroller with Emery and she is all buckled in, you want to be buckled in, too:)
- Love to go anywhere, even just riding around in the car.
- Call us by our first and last names sometimes.
- Have the most expression when you talk sometimes and you talk in the funniest voices sometimes. It won't make sense in writing, but I think your daddy and me will always remember how you say "Hello, baby Emery. I love you." You do it in the funniest voice!
1 year old
2 years old
3 years old
Meyers,
We can't believe you are 3 already! It really does seem like you were just as tiny as your sister is now. Your daddy and I love you so very much! You continue to bring so much joy to our lives. You are such a precious, sweet girl that we thank God for everyday. I look forward to what the next year will be like with you - watching you grow, learn new things, become more independent (this makes me a little sad!), and to see your relationship with your sister blossom.
We love you, monkey!
Love,
Mama and Daddy
