A Quick Visit

Jessica came in town this past weekend to meet Emery. No, this isn't a picture from this weekend. It's a picture from her wedding......obviously. I took NO pictures while she was here! I was too sleep deprived and sinus-infected. I don't think that's a word......

Anyway, bless her heart. After asking Bert to book her a late flight, she realized that he booked the absolute last flight. That last flight - leaving out at 10:30 pm Friday (atlanta time) - was delayed. I think she got to my house between 12:30 am and 1:00 am Saturday morning. We were both so tired: her from working all day and traveling so late and me from having a newborn and an almost 3 year old that couldn't get to sleep that night. We hugged hello and we were both in our beds within 3 minutes of her getting here. Emery was up about an hour or so later, and it was then that I woke up with a sore throat, watery eyes, and constant sneezing. I always get this way when I am run down, and I am so run down right now. I would hurt somebody for four STRAIGHT hours of sleep right now. Four - that's all I'm asking for. Five would be nice, but I'll take four......

Anyway, we were all up around 7:30 Saturday morning. Jessica said she was laughing so hard at Meyers because she could hear her saying "B. Come in here. Bef, where are you?" from her room. She hears John and my mom call me "B" and everyone else call me Beth, so she thinks that's real funny to call me that. It actually is real funny. I need to get that recorded.

We got dressed, and Jessica and I took the girls to the fabric store. I needed a Sprite; a fountain Sprite always makes me throat feel somewhat better when it hurts, so we pulled through Chick-fil-a. Emery got crazy-town in the line, so we pulled into the parking lot to feed her after we got our drinks. Jessica actually fed her - for the 2nd time that day. Bless her sweet self!

I burped her because Jessica says she's not a good baby burper:) She took these pictures - the only ones to document our weekend - while I burped Emery.

Meyers's fake cheesy smile:)

After Emery was fed, we went to the fabric store. Jessica and I both sew, so going in the fabric store is like a kid going to a candy store. So fun! I bought fabric to make Meyers' birthday outfit, and Jessica bought fabric to make each of her girls' three outfits. We had fun picking out her material. We were there for a while. Meyers was so good, and Emery got settled when I put her in my sling. Meyers even told me she needed to potty (#1) while we were there. I took her while Jessica finished up and paid. Poor thing couldn't go. She was constipated. I was proud of her for telling me, even though she couldn't go. Jessica came in and helped Meyers while I paid for my fabric. Again.....bless her sweet self. I've gotten out with both girls, but it was so nice having Jessica with me to help.

When we left, we met John for lunch. We had a yummy lunch of Memphis Pizza Cafe. We had fun visiting and catching up. Jessica told the funniest story I've heard in a long time about Elizabeth walking in on her daddy dressing (Jessica -hope you don't mind I said that!). It was so funny that I was nearly crying! It still makes me laugh just thinking about it! We left and came home. I was starting to feel really bad. Jessica could tell how bad I felt, and she knew I was exhausted. She told me and John to get Meyers down and go take a nap. I felt so bad! Jessica was only at my house for about 15 hours and part of that time was at night when we were all sleeping. I wanted to visit with her, but I totally took her up on her offer. That's how bad I felt. If I was just sleepy, I could have made it. But I felt awful! The stars aligned and Meyers actually went to sleep, and John and I slept for 2 hours while Jessica watched Emery.

Here's a picture she took of Emery while we were all sleeping. I think it looks NOTHING like her! So strange! She looks precious, but it doesn't look like any other picture I've taken of her. I could have cried over my appreciation of Jessica letting us nap! I know she wanted to spend time with Emery, and she wanted to help, but I still hate that we didn't have more time to visit. Her mom came and picked her up about 20 minutes after we woke up. She spent the night with her and flew out the next morning. I know she was exhausted!

I am so thankful for my sweet friends. Friends that have come to visit us and Emery, friends that have brought us food and gifts, friends that have come over to visit and fed Emery while they were here or helped Meyers on the potty just to give me a tiny break, friends that have not written me off because I haven't been able to answer the phone because they always call when it's crazy-town over here. I feel very blessed by my sweet friends!

  1. I wish I could've spent more time with y'all. Meyers and Emery are both so precious. I hope you are able to get a full night sleep very soon. I love y'all.
