Disney World Day 4 - Animal Kingdom

Day 4 was the Animal Kingdom, and I wanted to go because I've never been, but it was one I was not super looking forward to. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we definitely enjoyed our day there. We probably would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't cool and overcast. This was the kind of weather we had packed for, but the weather was overcast all day and then it started sprinkling towards the afternoon. It made me miss the hot weather from the three days before:)

Since the girls had loved the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground area so much, I knew we would be spending some time at the Boneyard Digsite. Our planner had mentioned this on our itinerary as something to do between fast pass times, but we made it a priority. I enjoyed the Boneyard more than HISTK playground area because there were not as many twists and turns and places to lose your children. It was more open. The place was full of slides of all sizes and things to climb on. Our girls LOVED it! After playing for a little while, we rode Triceratop Spin. Our first FP was for Expedition Everest for me and John. This was probably my favorite roller coaster all week, but again, not as much fun to ride by yourself. It was definitely a quick one to ride though, so that was good for our girls who had to wait for us to ride it separately.

love the hand holding with our little Snow White and Cinderella:)

Womp! Womp! This is what it looks like to ride a roller coaster by yourself:(
After Expedition Everest, we ate lunch at Flametree Barbeque, which was pretty good for counter service. The afternoon definitely started cooling down around lunchtime which was no fun. Our next FP was for Kilamanjaro Safari. We walked around Pangani Forest Exploration Trail while we waited for our time for the safari.

only way I get in a shot - selfie!
The safari was really fun. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really neat. When we were done, we walked back through Africa. There was always music and dancing. It was really fun. At one point, we stopped to watch and John got picked to participate in the group dancing. Oh. My! This was hilarious to watch. The girls especially loved watching their daddy out there dancing:)

He acted embarrassed, but he loved it! He's still got some rhythm:)

He's really getting into it:)
I can't even remember what our last FP was for, but we missed it. Emery fell asleep, so I stayed with her, and John and Meyers went back to the Boneyard Digsite and rode Triceratop Spin again. That worked for me:) It had started to sprinkle at this point, but Emery and I were under a covered area, so I just hung out while she slept. I totally forgot about Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade until about 15 minutes before it started. Emery had just woken up, so we went and got a spot and waited on Meyers and John to join us. The parade was really cute. The girls liked it.

out!

ready to go play in her raingear:)
We were supposed to eat dinner at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge that night. Our reservations weren't for another 2.5 hours and we were kind of done being out in the wet weather, so we left and went back to our room. Since the transportation won't take you park to park or resort to resort, we were going to have to get a bus to Epcot to then get on a bus to take us to Animal Kingdom Lodge since we had left AK instead of going straight to the AK Lodge from AK. The idea of that sounded miserable to us. I wanted a table service dinner but not with all it was going to take to get there. So we canceled Boma and ate at our resort and came back to get in our pjs after that. Totally worth canceling on Boma (I haven't actually eaten there, but being able to eat a quick dinner and be done for the day was totally worth it at the time).

Favorites:
Meyers: Seeing Mickey and Minnie in the parade
Emery: Boneyard Digsite
Beth: Expedition Everest
John: same -he's such a copycat:)

  1. Hahahahaha! I am laughing out loud at John...simply because I too was a part of that Africa fun on one of our trips! ;)
