I said that (to myself and maybe others, who knows?) this would not be a craft or sewing or project blog. Not that there is anything wrong with those.....I mean, that is where I got the info for this project. I LOVE those kind of blogs. But I said this would be all about Meyers.
I should know by now what happens when you never say never! Ha!
I may delete this later, or I may keep it so that Meyers can see what her kitchen looked like when she was little and how her mommy tried super hard to make it a home (on a budget). But I am putting this up now so that my friends and family (all 3 of you that read) can see what I have been talking about. I saw this idea last week and have not stopped thinking about it.
Our kitchen was totally livable when we moved in. It was not our taste, but it wasn't horrendous at all. I assumed it would look exactly the same until we had the money to totally gut it and start over....which will probably be when I go back to work....which is not anytime in the near future. Sometimes I feel like not even making little changes thinking it's a waste of money until we can do the whole thing.
Well...then our downstairs flooded. Parts of our kitchen had standing water in it. Water was literally pouring out of our kitchen ceiling. So thanks to the flood and insurance, we got new hardwood floors in parts of the downstairs, smooth ceilings in the kitchen (insurance did not pay for that...long story), and a new light in the eat-in kitchen part.
When we got these few new things done, I all the sudden knew I wanted our kitchen to look better. I mean, paint is cheap, right? So John painted the kitchen (a color I still can't believe I chose), and I made this "faux" cornice board. And we finally got a table....but we still don't have chairs:) Things take time...we'll get them eventually!
AFTER
The before shot is not great. This is why I could never have a craft blog. I didn't even take before pictures or pictures of my project as I went along. That would have taken forever!! But I'm really thankful for the people that choose to do that, because I made this cornice board for $35!!!! That includes all supplies. There is more duct tape and hot glue on here than you could imagine, but I am so happy with the finished project!! I'm pretty sure I'm going to have them in most rooms of the house:)
Oh my goodness, I'm in love with your kitchen! I would never guess you would've chosen that color, but it looks awesome!! And you must tell me how you did it.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great! I need the color again...I think that is just the one I'm looking for for Lainey's room. Looks perfect with the white! Your pedestal table looks amazing too!
ReplyDeleteLooks Amazing! You are way too talented. I am very proud of you doing it all on a budget too! The kitchen is very fresh and clean looking. Adore it!
ReplyDeleteDid Mama hang around for the after?
ReplyDeleteOk...looks like I have a project to do this weekend! It looks great. Now I will have some window treatments in the kitchen by the time my bunco group comes over in two weeks. THANK YOU for posting this Beth!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! I want to know the name of the color, I love it!
