Meyers's First Dance Class

I really do try and not "wish away" stages in my girls' lives. As fun as it is for them to do something new or experience something new, I try to remember that we will get "there" wherever there happens to be, and appreciate and cherish them in the stage they are currently in.

Not sure what this silly smile is all about:)

I have to say, though, that I have been dying to see Meyers in a leotard and dance shoes since she was probably hours old! I guess it's something about having a girl or the fact that I danced growing up, but I have been SO excited for her to start dance class. Most classes around here will not let you start until you are three. This class started this fall, so we had to wait until she was a little over three. I can not tell you how excited and how fun it was to buy her leotards, tights, and dance shoes. It was actually a strange feeling knowing that I have child old enough to go to need these things for dance class, but it was still super fun!!

Her first class was this past Friday. I was hoping to get a sitter to watch Emery since it's her naptime, and I wanted to be able to focus on Meyers, but that didn't work out. Emery actually did really well - for her - I did have to hold her the last thirty minutes of class. Geez - that girl is heavy:)

Emery loves her big sister!

Meyers is so not a risk taker and is a little shy when it comes to new things sometimes. I started to worry as we pulled up and she was saying she wanted me to hold her while she was in dance class. Yea - her dance teacher is super sweet, but I doubt that would be okay:) She has two friends that are in her class. They got there not long after we did, and Meyers instantly warmed up and started acting excited about dance class.

The moms could watch the class through the glass walls. It was so cute to watch them start out by stretching and running around the room. The ballet part of the class was first and then the last half was tap. Meyers loved the tap part. She was listening to the teacher and tapping when she was supposed to. I was giddy watching her. It was so stinkin' cute!!!

It is so fun to start "extracurricular" activities. This is her first "thing" to try.  I am excited for the rest of her lessons and she is, too.

It was so nice when we got home, that we played outside for a little bit. Emery LOVES the beep beep. And Meyers loves pushing her in it.

I can not remember (besides Emery's monthly pictures) the last time I used my real camera! I am so lazy! Since I took it to dance class, I had it on me, and I got a sweet picture of Emery in all her light eyed and light haired glory:)

  1. I know what you mean about seeing your little girl in her leotard! And I wasn't even a dancer.

That last picture of Emery is just beautiful!
