Moving Day

........was actually about two weeks ago (2 days shy of 6 weeks). This sleeping beauty moved out of our room and into hers!

Meyers was in our room until she was almost 3 months (about 11 weeks)!! But we were newbies then and were thinking she needed to be in our room for a while. We used the AngelCare monitor with Meyers (still do since she is still in her crib). This monitor detects movement in the crib. An alarm will sound if your baby stops breathing for a certain amount of seconds. We've used it since Meyers was three months old and still do. It's a long story of why we have two monitors that involves John plugging the wrong power cord into the nursery unit when we moved. This monitor has always given us a peace of mind at night, but even more so when Meyers started getting sick and having breathing issues. At the time, Meyers had been to the ER once already for her asthma because she was having trouble breathing. The night we moved, the monitor wouldn't work since the wrong power cord got plugged into it. There was NO way she was going to sleep that night without her monitor. Yes, she was almost 1.5, but I didn't care. My sweet dad went to Babies R Us for me at like 7:00 at night to get another one. It made me sick to spend another $120 on a monitor that we had already bought, but $120 is worth your peace of mind. So that left us with 1.5 monitors:) Since we still had the parent units from the original monitor, all we needed was a nursery unit. The replacement unit was only about $30. I was surprised it was only $30 since the whole thing costs $120. I figured for $30 I would leave Meyers's monitor in her room since she was still in a crib and order the nursery unit for the new baby. So that's what we did.

I may even still use the monitor when Meyers gets a big girl bed. That way, I'd know if she was up roaming the house because the alarm would go off...... It's an idea - we will figure that out when she gets a big girl bed:)

Back to Emery......she has slept great in her room. She is still going about the same amount of time without a bottle at night - 4 to 6 hours depending on what time we put her down (that 10 hour night was soooo a one-time thing). The first few nights, I missed her being in there. I was the same way with Meyers. Now it would seem strange for her to be in the pack n play bassinet in our room:) I'm proud of our "big girl" for adjusting so well. You always think change is going to be so traumatic for your child (whether they are a baby or almost 3), but they always surprise you!
