Atlanta: Part 2- Week With the Kellys

I had planned to stay at Jessica's for a few days before John's family made it to Atlanta. When I looked at flights, the cheapest one was leaving a few days before I had planned on coming. I checked with Jessica to make sure she wanted two house guests for a whole week with a 4 week old. She said yes, so we had a whole week to spend together. Normally we just have a few days, and we try to cram a bunch of stuff in. It was nice to have a week and just be lazy when we wanted to be and get out when we wanted to.

It was a big ordeal to get out of the house, and when we did, the getting in and out of the car was a feat:) We had these girls in the third row seat. We kept the seat in front of them down so they wouldn't feel so isolated back there, and Caroline was in the middle row. I thought this picture was so funny! Meyers has this same car seat (this one is Elizabeth's), but we don't have the side protection thingies so close to her head. I think she was thinking what have you put me in????

This was our trip to the grocery store. They don't have carts like this here. The ones at our stores have the car part down low. I've never let Meyers sit in one. But I liked this one because they are up high with you. Meyers thought this was super fun!

Both of the girls got to test out Jessica's new double stroller. Don't let those faces fool you; they loved it! In fact, one morning Jessica had to take Caroline to the doctor for her one month check up. I kept Meyers and Elizabeth at home. They got a little antsy, so I asked them if they wanted to ride around the house in the double stroller. I got each one a sippy and we made laps around the house for about 30 minutes! I got kind of tired of pushing them around, but they were happy, so I kept on:)

One morning, we went downtown to the Children's Museum. The girls had fun playing in the kitchen and pushing the grocery cart around. Meyers was in concentration mode here. Elizabeth moves way faster than her, so she had to keep up:) She couldn't take eyes away to look back at me:)

Meyers LOVED being at "Bebetts" house. This is the first time the girls have gotten to be together since Meyers could walk. They still played on their own some, but they also followed each other around and played together so well! Every time we would go upstairs, Meyers would immediately start asking for "Desca" aka Jessica, "Bebetts" aka Elizabeth, and Bert. She could say Bert pretty well. I thought it was adorable. I kind of wonder if she was thinking that this was our new house and our new "people" because she took to them immediately.

Meyers and Elizabeth are 6 weeks apart. Jessica and I have very similar tastes in clothes, so we like a lot of the same things for the girls. So every season there are several outfits that the girls have alike. We always try to make sure we get pictures of them in their matching outfits. WE think it's pretty fun!

And now Jessica has another precious girl to add to the dressing alike fun! I promise Meyers is not mauling her in this picture. I really don't think she was crying either, if I remember correctly, even though the picture looks like that.

Meyers LOVED holding this baby! She would want to hold her immediately and not want to put her down for a while. She would say "done" when she was tired of holding her! I love this sweet picture that Jessica got of Meyers and Caroline.

We always laugh about how much taller Elizabeth is than Meyers. I'm not sure why we thought it would be any other way. Jessica and Bert are tall. John and I are short. It made me think back to all of the pictures Jessica and I have of each other. She is probably going to kill me for this.......

Junior Prom towering over me...

Senior Recognition at church, again way taller than me

Twin Day during homecoming week (maybe senior year, not sure), again taller than me.

So our girls are destined to have pictures of themselves like this, too, because they are totally going to be best friends forever like us. It's kind of like arranged marriages, but for friends. You can do that, right?

Thanks, Kelly Family, for opening your home to us. We had so much fun with you and can't wait to see you again!!

  1. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry over those pictures! But it is the truth... our girls were destined to be separated by a few inches:))
