When I was pregnant with Meyers, I was teaching 5th grade. I knew I was pregnant when I started that year, so I slowly started getting things in order for my sub. It became an obsession for me. My room, desk, file cabinets and closets were so neat that anyone could have walked in and found what they needed.
I also had the most detailed sub plans ever! I actually had a very competent interim sub, but when I started getting things together, I didn't know who it would be. I wanted to make things easy on the sub and on my co-teacher.
One other crazy thing I did was I made copies of EVERYTHING that my sub would need for the rest of the year (I had Meyers in April.) I'm not sure why I thought that was so important. I worked at a private school and there was no "paid maternity leave" and we barely got any days to begin with, so I had none to accumulate. I essentially paid my interim sub out of my paycheck. I'm not sure why I didn't let him make his own copies:)
The last week and a half (when I would have tiny bursts of energy from being sick), I have been sewing a lot. I guess part of it is nesting and part of it is that it's trunk show time. I'm buying for two littles now, so I needed to see what I could sew myself and what I need to buy. I never sewed a bubble for Meyers. I didn't get my machine until she was about 9 months old, and one piece things kind of intimidated me as a "new sewer". I was excited to see that sewing a bubble is not as hard as I thought it would be.
bubble for the baby
bow back dress for Meyers
(still haven't hemmed it because I'm not sure how short I want it to be.)
back of the dress
(this might be my new favorite thing to sew!)
pants for Meyers to wear with a smocked top that matches the gown the baby will be wearing home. I had pants to match, but I oxicleaned them for several days and they turned a weird color!
Cross back top for Meyers. I love, love this look in the summer. This was not hard to make, either! Very exciting!
The front.
It still needs buttons and bloomers, but I'm still trying to decide on the fabric for the covered buttons.
I had to take a picture of the material up close. It looks kind of funny from far away. I love the butterflies!
Gender neutral burp cloths for the baby
Gender neutral banner for the hospital door
Yellow and gray is so pretty!
I think I'm done for now.......at least until the baby gets here, and I know if I can buy boy material or girl material!!
Everything looks great! LOVE the banner! Feel free to sew some extra bubbles for your favorite Lilly! :)
