I remember when I was first thinking about starting Meyers in preschool that I wondered how she would sit at her table with friends and eat, how she would sleep there, how she would do on the playground (she is so cautious and timid!), etc. When it came to my sleep worry, all of my friends told me I would be amazed at how Meyers would sleep on her little cot with all the other children in the room.
After the first few weeks of preschool, I stopped asking if Meyers slept at naptime. The answer was always no. Well......my question was answered at open house the other night. This is only a picture of Meyers at naptime, but on the rest of the poster board is pictures of ALL the kids (in both classes) sleeping during naptime. There was one other boy awake in the pictures. I laughed outloud when I saw these pictures. I asked the teacher about it, and she said "yes, those are the only two that don't sleep."
I figured she had not started sleeping there. How can you expect her to when she naps around 2:00 at home. They start napping at noon at school. I bet she might come closer to sleeping if she had her binky. We took it away a few weeks before she started preschool. While I would love for her to sleep at school, I would not trade her still having the binky for one afternoon a week of sleeping at school:)
The teacher said that she lays there very sweetly the whole time. Y'all.....that's nearly two hours that she lays there not sleeping. Bless her heart. I feel so bad, but at least she looks happy:)
