Another Project

This is for my out of town friends (and those that haven't been over lately:)).

This is my hall wall project I have been talking about for a while. I have been wanting to do this for about 4 months now. I got the idea from this blog. I wanted something that would help my problem of dumping everything on the counter when I walked in. I saw this version and wanted to do it exactly like hers, but we would have have to get fancier, thicker baseboards and that wasn't happening, so we decided on wainscoting...which I love, so it turned out to be a good thing.

This is the hall wall in the process. This was the best before picture I could get.

BEFORE (kind of)

AFTER

We still need to paint to cover up the caulk, and get one more hook (we didn't realize 7 would fit on here), and put the switch plate back on.....but I am so happy with it. I feel so much more organized. And now, maybe our counter won't look like a mess all of the time because at least the bags and junk are out of the way. I look forward to many years of backpacks hanging on these hooks:)

**We (meaning mostly John) put the wainscoting and trim up on Wednesday. I painted that night and was dying to see the finished project. John kept telling me he would get the hooks up, but after waiting for two days, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I have never touched or operated a drill before, but I figured it out and got all of those up BY MYSELF. I stripped just about every screw getting them in, but they are in, and that's all that matters. And let me say, that I never want to use a drill again. It was HARD work. I was dripping with sweat by the time I was done. I used muscles pushing that drill that I haven't used in a long time....maybe never:)
